After visiting this location on a Weird Sydney Ghost and History Tour with Allan Levinson and Elvira the Hearse, we decided it would make an interesting place to investigate. Unspeakable crimes and horrific murders have taken place in the area dubbed 'the street with no name'. Locals claim there is something inexplicably evil about the railway viaduct and surrounding park. Some say an eerie presence can be felt, others tell tales of bizarre behavior displayed by small children and dogs. Could it be haunted by the ghosts of those whose lives were tragically cut short there?

It's gory and terrifying history can be told through a series of newspaper articles dating back to 1968, when the mutilated body of a three-year-old boy was found dumped not far from the railway viaduct. To this day, the particularly gruesome murder has never been solved. Eight years later, the body of a twelve-year-old boy was found along the railway embankment. The boy had died of extensive head injuries inflicted with a large rock. Seven months later and only 50 metres away, the body of another boy the same age was found. He had suffered multiple stab wounds of the chest, stomach and leg. In 1977, a man was arrested, tried and found guilty of the murders of the two young boys.

Another sad incident was the death of Jock, a kindly railway worker who had gone to the rescue of an injured possum. He was struck and killed by a train that suddenly appeared out of the foggy darkness. Locals believe that on some nights they can still hear Jock walking along the railway tracks searching for animals in need of help.

In 2000, a homeless man, Reg Malvin, was found bludgeoned to death in the grandstand of Jubilee Park. Reg had ignored warnings not to sleep there. The murder remains unsolved, just like that of the Asian man whose body was found floating in Rozelle Bay last year.

Mark Brynes has leased one of the storage rooms under the railway viaduct for nearly ten years. Once used as a music venue for up and coming bands, the storage room nicknamed 'the Tomb' is now used as a photographic studio. PA team member Allan Levinson, of Destiny Tours, arranged for Mark to meet us at 'the street with no name' and accompany us on our investigation. Mark was kind enough to give us access to 'the Tomb' and tell us some of the local history and stories.

Mark recalled a strange and frightening experience after having leased 'the Tomb' for just six months. He was at the storage room alone late one night picking up photographic equipment when he heard what he describes as 'ghostly' footsteps coming from the area outside the window. It was in this exact spot that the body of the first murdered twelve-year-old boy was found. Mark said, "Something didn't seem right. My heart was racing. Who would be wandering around there late at night?." He didn't hang around to find out. He quickly grabbed what he had come for, locked up and left.

Mark told us some of the stories and legends that locals have shared with him over the years. In the 1960's, an elderly man was seen walking around the railway viaduct by members of a sporting club. They claim that the body of this man was found the next day. There are reports of a girl's body being dumped in the carpark in late 1976. It is rumored that she may have been the victim of Sydney's first Satanic murder. Attempts to investigate these reports were unsuccessful with sources seeming unwilling to disclose any information.

While exploring the area, Mark pointed out where the bodies of the young boys were found. He told us the grisly details of their murders, and how even today, children are warned to stay away from 'the street with no name'. He showed us where the body of Reg Malvin was found and explained how a section of the timber flooring needed to be replaced because of the bloodstains.

Several members of the team experienced unusual feelings and sensations, some more vivid and disturbing than others. Below are several of the reports submitted.

Mick reported:
"I didn't have any feelings in the first room but a slightly queasy feeling in the next (open) room. Going around the back I had an anxious feeling behind that open room and felt threatened. Walking further up that path I had a stabbing feeling to the right of my sternum at the bottom of my ribs. Also, I experienced a similar feeling in my lower back on the right side. Later in front of the oval, my tongue hurt and I had an uneasy feeling at the Moreton Bay fig tree near the light rail station."

Allan reported:
"In the tomb, I didn't have any bad feelings, though the smell of what I though was new paint was quite noticeable to me. I asked Mark if he had just painted the place of if he has any chemicals stored there, he said no. Maybe it was just a musty smell from the dampness?

When I was standing between the tomb and the open burnt out room, I saw a flash of red light out of the corner of my eye, to the left, which would have been near the door to Mark's tomb. I didn't mention it at the time.

Around the back, as usual it was a cooler temperature there than elsewhere. For a moment I was unsure if Lani was in lead or if someone else was ahead. She was also uncertain and said she heard some leaves rustling, but I do recall stepping in some leaves that made a rustling noise just as I approached her. As usual there I had some soreness at the temples of my head. My camera worked okay.
"

Kelly reported:
"Behind the viaduct I felt very anxious, and a bit panicky as though something was about to happen, especially in a small clearing in the middle - I felt most disturbed here. This is a VERY unpleasant area to be.

The park whilst during the day is buzzing with people, it is very dark and foreboding in the evening - complete with bats flying around making unearthly screeches! I was the first to arrive and walked around getting a feeling for the place. I had a very strong feeling that I was being watched which I heard someone else in the group comment on later in the evening.

In one of the rooms underneath the viaduct, Mark, who leases the room was telling us about all the grisly murders that happened in the park. This room is basically empty, apart from long streams of cotton hanging from the ceiling which Mark said was there to create atmosphere during photo shoots. I suddenly felt a strong cold breeze on my arm (it was a pleasant night and I was wearing short sleeves). I looked up and saw someone in the group also look up. I asked him if he felt the breeze, which he said he didn't (he was wearing long sleeves) however what made him look up was one of the cotton streamers hitting him in the head. The window was about 1 1/2 metres from where I was standing and the breeze was very strong, just like standing in front of a motorized fan (the ones that turn one way, then the other way). There didn't seem anything natural about this air, due to the distance it traveled, and the size of the window it came through (which was basically grating)."

Lani reported:
"Upon entering 'the Tomb' I immediately noticed an odour which at the time I assumed was from fresh paint. A few members of the team also commented on this. I felt a pressure on my chest which made it difficult to breath and also experienced nausea that came in waves. As soon as I stepped outside I felt fine. When I went back inside the feeling returned, but no where near as severe.

Everyone but Kim left the room and as we were standing outside talking, I noticed a very bright flash of blue light inside. I thought someone had taken a photograph, although this flash of light wasn't really like that of a camera flash. When I went back inside and asked Kim if she had just used a camera, she said no, but she had also noticed the flash and thought someone was on the other side of the one window in the room. I yelled out through the window but no one answered. Outside we found all members of the group standing together. Someone mentioned that when a train travels along the railway tracks above 'the Tomb', it lights up the overgrown path on the other side. Whilst investigating the area we did take note of the trains going by and they did not produce light anything like what we saw.

We then made our way to the overgrown path that runs along the other side. I headed down the path first, and experienced the unsettling sensation of disturbing someone, although it was quite obvious that there was no one there. I even heard what I thought were footsteps and leaves rustling up ahead. Allan commented on this and asked if there was anyone in front of me. The feelings I felt in this area were probably some of the most unnerving I've ever experienced. Obviously it is difficult not to get caught up in the fact that this is where two small children were viciously murdered, but being accompanied by a group as large as the one I was a part of, I thought I would have felt safe and more at ease."
