Ghostly
Happenings #3
Submitted by: Kay, Adelaide, South Australia (20/05/03)

Well I have a few experiences to
share, so ill start at the earliest one.
When I was about 4-5 years old we lived in an old house
in West Croydon where as a child I had a few experiences.
One time I was at the sink with my mum while she was
doing the dishes and I said "Mum who is that old lady
in the watering the garden". My mum looked up and said
to me to stop playing round coz there was no one in
the back yard.
However later on that day my parents friend came around
and said "Oh is that your mother out the back having
a cup of tea?" and my parents were confused, but my
Mum said that's funny u say that coz my son saw an old
lady out the back earlier today.... (we also found out
that an old lady had lived and died there) she was completely
harmless though and never really bothered us.
Another experience I had in that house was, at night
I couldn't sleep in my room - I would be scared of something
so my Mum put a lamp in my room which she said kept
the "bad spirits" away but I would still get scared.
The scary thing is, (well it wasn't scary to me at the
time) but now I am older and think about it, when I
was scared I would go to my parents room which was at
the front of the house and my room nearer the back of
the house and we had what seemed to me to be a huge
hallway.
Anyway when I would get out of my bed a figure of a
boy would be standing at the door with a golden outline
'round him and I would close my eyes and walk to the
door then he would be like a metre in front of me. I
would run down the hall to my parents room and he would
run ahead of me - always keeping just a bit ahead of
me. Then I would get to my parents room and he would
jump on my parents bed before me but when I would hop
in their bed he would disappear.
This happened on many occasions though I was never actually
scared of him - I didn't like him because he would always
race me to MY parents bed and beat me.
I remember getting angry with him because they were
MY parents and for some reason HIM hopping into MY parents
bed annoyed me.
|
This is another experience I had
as a young child I was around 7 years old I think. We
moved into this little house in Greenacres, at night
we would here noises when we were in the lounge room
watching TV like "Thump... thump.... thump..." on the
wooden floorboards but we could never work out what
it was until my Mum asked a lady down the street if
maybe our house was haunted to which the lady replied
that the house had once belonged to a war veteran who
had both his legs amputated during the war and replaced
with wooden stumps. Anyway I didn't find that scary,
however what happened one night was!
I went to bed and my Mum and her boyfriend went to bed
in the lounge but before my Mum left the room, she opened
the window in my room and hung a towel over it to act
as a sort of "curtain" and muttered something to me
bout getting fresh air.
Anyway, my Mum went off to bed and I was just about
to go to sleep when the door started banging rapidly
(opening and shutting)! I thought it was just the wind
but when I looked up at the window the towel was dead
straight even though the door was opening and shutting
rapidly when I saw that I immediately froze in fear
but pulled the covers over my head and stayed under
there for which felt like 2 hours but in reality was
probably only about 30 minutes until my Mum came in.
When she did she shut the door and I remember having
a great feeling of relief come over me when she came
in. But even after she shut the door and came into my
bed the door started up again until she got up and booted
it shut really hard, and even then it continued to rattle.
Well I didn't expect my stories to be so long! I have
a few more but I wont put them on this post as this
one is pretty long as it is... lol....
If u wanna give me any feedback or having interesting
to tell me bout your on personal experience please email
me.

About 2 hours ago I was making coffee when I hear this
man say "stay".
I don't know what to do.
Should I try to find out why there here or move and
leave it alone? It calls out to me telling me to come
here but I've been told not to go by a lot of people.
I've been sleeping inside lately and was awoken by loud
banging on the lounge room door. It's scary, I just
need someone's advice of what to do. |
I've also been having dreams that
are coming true in every detail, so now I'm sketching
out the places in my dreams and writing down what happened
in them.
Please email me if u have some advice.
Thank u.

Phantom
Cars
Submitted by: Rick, North Queensland, Australia (20/05/03)
|
Some
years ago my wife and I were driving northwards from
Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand, heading
towards Blenheim near the top of the South Island.
It was a fine sunny afternoon as we drove up the main
highway approaching a range of hills called, if I remember
correctly, the "Hunderleas."(?) The road was, at that
time quite narrow, and as we headed up the twisting
and winding road I drove carefully. We rounded a sharp
corner and as we did so we both could see the road further
up. At this point I noticed a car coming around a sharp
bend heading towards us before it disappeared from sight
at the next corner. I made a mental note to watch for
it as we rounded the bend.
"Careful, dear," said my wife, "there's a car coming."
Obviously she'd seen it too.
"Yes," I replied, " Don't worry, I saw it too!".
We drove on a little further and rounded the next bend,
expecting to see and pass the car we'd both seen a minute
or two previously, but to our astonishment, there was
nothing to be seen. Thinking that the car we'd seen
had run off the road and gone down the embankment on
our left, I stopped our car. We both got out and searched
along the side of the road, expecting to see a damaged
auto down below, but there was nothing. We never did
pass that car. To this day we can't explain what we
both obviously saw, except that perhaps the explanation
was that we "saw" a car that had come to grief in an
accident some time previously! The "car" that I had
seen fitted the description of that that my wife described....an
old, rounded shape of a pre-war car. Who knows - was
it "re-living" the past?
A similar "sighting" occurred many years later
when I
was out hunting with a friend in outback Queensland. |
Again, it was a bright, sunny and
windless morning,
with good visibility. My friend, John, and I were walking
through long, dry grass on the top of a high bank following
the Burdekin River, looking for a track to follow. Suddenly
we both stopped, for there ahead of us about 200 yards
away we spied the top half of a vehicle traveling reasonably
fast across our line of vision, going from left to right.
The car could be seen intermittently through the iron-bark
trees ahead that was part of the open forest country
that we were in. We both spoke almost simultaneously.
"There's gotta be a road over there!" Off we headed
towards the spot where we'd seen the vehicle, but of
course there was no sign of a road - for where would
it have crossed the river to our left? There was no
bridge. Nothing.
When we stopped and looked about, it suddenly came to
us - the vehicle had not left any sign and there was
no dust cloud raised from it's passage! For sure, a
vehicle moving in that country always left a plume of
tell-tale dust behind had there been a track or any
type of road - and there wasn't a sign of any car-tracks
in the long brown grass. We were puzzled - and then
we both realized that the "car" we'd both seen had also
not made a sound, either! It had been "dead silent"!
This was another episode of seeing something which apparently
"wasn't there".
Had it not been for the fact that on both these separate
occasions another person with me had also seen the same
thing, I would definitely have thought that they were
just "figments of my imagination!"

One day in the shower whilst masturbating
I thought I caught a glimpse of someone's reflection
in the mirror. It was really freaky so I stopped what
I was doing and got out of the shower, wrapped a towel
around my torso and slowly paced around the room. I
stepped outside still dripping wet. I couldn't stop
thinking about that reflection that half resembled my
deceased stepfather, who used to beat me.
On my way down the stairs I thought I felt something
hit me in the back of the head, I toppled over face
first. Everything was black yet luminous at the same
time, I felt like I was floating but not through time
floating through dense thick material but I was weightless
and transparent.
|
Suddenly a voice shouting abuse,
similar to that of my step father surrounded my, I covered
my ears but it did nothing and the voice was just as
clear. I began to slow down and eventually stopped.
Then I awoke in hospital but a micro second before I
woke I was confronted by a huge evil face of my step
father, his eyes black.
I had a broken sternum and arm as well as a fractured
collar bone, my skull was cracked but strangely at the
back of my head and I was found face down.

Strange
Experience
Submitted by: KB, USA (16/05/03)

This was the weirdest thing, and
it happened last weekend.
My parents left to go to a meeting in Oregon, so I was
alone, which was no big deal considering I am seventeen.
Well let me explain my house, its nice, actually you
walk through the front door and there is a long hall
on the right, with the bathroom and three bedrooms,
and the middle bedroom is mine. that's all I'm going
to explain.
It was like 1:30am and I started to get somewhat tired
so I started to get ready for bed. I went in the bathroom
to take out my contacts, brush my teeth, go poop (I'm
totally joking), anyway I heard running down the hall,
by the way the bathroom door was closed, I was like
"What the heck, I am alone!". At one point
I believe I heard whatever it was laugh.
I was freaked I mean this is my house. I hollered, "is
anyone there?" a couple times.
The running stopped.
I opened the door and slowly walked to my room, when
I heard something behind me I about died. I then took
off running in my room and I locked my door, and I was
safe.
|
My blinds were open, so I turned
off my light to see what was outside, three scroungy
looking men were just standing there gazing at me, the
only thing blocking them from me was a thin window...
My heart stopped. I closed the blinds like I didn't
see anyone there, but inside I was dying. I ran in my
parents room and called the police and they came, they
said to call again if anything else happens, because
the creepy men left.

Haunted
Homestead
Submitted by: balata, Australia (08/05/03)
|
| My
mother had been working as a child minder for a busy
couple for a few years and when they moved, she continued
on with them. The couple had bought an early Nineteenth
Century house which consisted of the main homestead
and a stable block which had been untouched since originally
built.
From the beginning, the dining room, verandah and stable
area had an eerie feeling which was notable to all who
entered. The owners of the house refused to acknowledge
anything of the sort but both refused to park their
expensive cars under shelter in the stables, instead
leaving them out on the roadside. My highly skeptical
mother also avoided this area, and put the two young
boys tales of hearing someone wandering around at night
to overactive imaginations.
One night about a month after moving in, the couple
had some friends stay over. They were awoken during
the night by one friends scream. They met her in the
hallway, trembling and swearing that she had awoken
to feel someone touching her on the face. Although it
was the middle of the night and she was miles from home
the woman left - refusing to stay another minute.
My Mother also began to experience strange noises. When
working late, she would hear footsteps along the wooden
verandah which would stop near the front door. Upon
investigation, no one was ever seen. Once, frightened
but determined to ensure no-one was playing a prank,
Mum waited seated near the front door, reading a book.
As soon as she heard the approaching footsteps, Mum
turned on the outside lights and looked out, but of
course there was no-one there. Feeling spooked, she
locked the door, checked it, and went into the kitchen
to make a cup of tea. As she walked back into the lounge
room she glanced toward the front door and found it
standing open. With no choice but to stay, she relocked
the door and called me, and we stayed on the phone until
one of the parents arrived home.
Curious about the whole thing, with the couples permission
I visited the house during the next day. I went into
the stables first, impressed by it's old fashioned charm.
I then noticed a door into another room behind the main
area and went to investigate. I ignored the goosebumps
and opened it, managing to notice a few old stored relics
before suddenly feeling incredibly ill and having to
rush outside with the feeling I wanted to throw up.
Refusing to re-enter I moved on to the main house. I
immediately sensed someone in the corner of the verandah,
but didn't feel at all threatened so I went inside.
I also instantly felt the eerieness of the dining Room,
but unlike outside, this presence felt menacing and
without hesitation I decided I had had enough and left. |
Not
long after that day, my Mother was again asked to work
late, and I allowed myself to be convinced to stay with
her. That night I also experienced the sounds of footsteps
on the verandah. The boys told me this was an almost
nightly occurrence. The next I heard about the house,
the owners were having the stables demolished. No reason
was given. They also bought a dog for the boys. Although
the property was fully fenced, the dog refused to stay
there unless the owners were present, finding incredible
ways to escape. Once escaped, the dog would remain outside
the house, just across the road until the owners returned
home.
It was about this time that the renovations really began.
The owners were getting sick of rewiring the house due
to light globes blowing and needed more space anyway,
thus they decided to add another story. All was going
well until everything was almost finished. Inside the
old part of the house the noises kept occurring however,
and the couple had been having violent arguments. The
night before the renovations were complete, a fire started
in one of the downstairs bedrooms - the same one that
the woman had fled from a few months earlier. Despite
it's origins downstairs, the fire left the original
building almost completely untouched - but completely
gutted the renovations.
The family are now renting a nearby house whilst deciding
how to proceed.

Scary
Sleepover

One night me and my friend Steph were sleeping over
over Susans. Susan lives in the oldest part of Cleveland
(a suburb in Brisbane) and was always saying that she
saw ghosts and I never really took any notice of it.
It all started when we were sitting on her front lawn
and I thought I could hear footsteps. I asked if the
others could hear them and they said yes. We thought
some one was coming so we all got up to go inside, but
as I got up I saw something on the driveway, it was
kinda smoky on the bottom but at the top it was forming
the shape of a boy. I asked if the others could see
it and they said no, and when I looked back it was gone.
I just dismissed it and went into Susans room,
Later that night Steph went outside to have a cigarette
and came back and said that she had seen a little boy
on the driveway, she called out to him but he ran away.
Susan went outside to have a look then came back a few
minutes later and said there was no boy but she had
seen a tall man who looked like he was wearing a robe.
|
By
this point we were all scared, so we decided to go to
bed.
At about 3:00 I woke up and saw a figure near the door,
I thought it was Susan but then I realised it was too
tall. It was blurry around the edges. I screamed and pulled
the covers over my head and sobbed for what seemed like
hours.
I finally lowered the blanket and it was gone.
This happened to me when I was 15 and I cant really remember
it well.
I think I forced it out of my memory cos I was so
scared!

| Well
I really didn't believe in ghosts or aliens or really
anything paranormal. I have had a Christian up-bringing
so you know... I felt that these topics were stupid....
Well getting back on track.... it was about 8:30 at
night when I was at my friends place just down the road..
His Mum, older brother and his sister said that there
was a ghost in his house but being a stubborn person
I am I didn't believe him....
Well let me describe it to you and if any of you know
what type of ghost it is then just post it up... well
it's just a dull green on top of this bookcase splitting
these two rooms so my friend said "are you nervous?"
I said nup and so I attempted to communicate with it
so I said.."Come out bright... real bright" and it came
out the colour of the brightest grass you have seen...
is brother who was 18 at the time... |
I really want to see more like this
stuff so if any one knows of hot spots post them up.

Dark
Figure
Submitted by: balata, Australia (08/05/03)
|
| One
night when I was sharing a single bed with my sister,
something had fell off the dresser, and woke me up.
Let me explain, there were no curtains on the window
and the moonlight had shone through that night. As I
tried to find out what had fallen off the dresser, I
suddenly saw a dark figure beside the bed. I only saw
what appeared as the head, shoulders and waist of a
person or thing beside my bed.
The only thing I could do was duck under the covers
and pinch my sister to wake her. When she did I asked
her to turn the lights on. I did not tell my sister
what had happened, and eventually I went back to sleep
and slept soundly for the rest of the night. |
There has been a few strange things
that have happen in that house. My Mum has had some
strange things happen to her in the same room - she
was laying in bed reading while Dad was asleep and all
of a sudden there were these two faces or heads coming
right at her. She jumped in fright. This woke Dad for
a second and he asked what was wrong, but Mum just said
"Don't worry about it, it was nothing.".

Ballarat Experiences
Submitted by: josh p, Ballarat - Victoria (07/05/03)
|
|
I went to bed one night, turned off the light and something
like a cat or perhaps a rolled up jumper (or something
similar) landed on the bed between my legs. I turned
on the light (next to my bed) and there was nothing
there but a perfect impression of a circle.
I also hear almost every night, footsteps around the
house, always in the same spots. I've been told an old
lady died in my bedroom and her bed is in the exact
position that her bed was in.
Also my Mum has had an experience today (06-05-03).
She got home, and as she was putting the key in the
lock part of the door seemed to become transparent.
It lasted for about 3 to 4 seconds - just long enough
to see that the bathroom door was open (which we always
close to help keep the heat in). She was pretty scared
because she had not seen or even heard of this kind
of thing before.
I've had more than my fair share of experiences over
the years. Sometimes it seems like I have been singled
out. I don't know why (or maybe I do?). |
I also think Ballarat should be investigated
as there are some very, very strange stories here. Also
a lot of UFO sightings (myself included) however nobody
seems interested.... I don't know why.
Thank-you...
Hi Josh.... thank you for your
experiences! We'd be very interested in doing an investigation
in Ballarat sometime in the future... if anyone has
any paranormal information about the area we would love
to hear more!

Loud Noise
Submitted by: bella315, Adelaide - South Australia
(03/05/03)
|
|
Twice now, at around 2.30am in the morning I have woken
to hear a loud metallic/scraping noise which seems to
travel around the outside of the small cottage where
I live with my two children.
No one else is woken by this sound and it really is
loud!!
I have been unwilling to go out and investigate but
by the light of morning there is nothing to indicate
anything has happened to make this noise. The closest
thing I can think of to describe it is that it sounds
like a sheet of iron is being dragged around the outside
walls of the house. I am definitely awake when this
is going on and have made sure that it is not water
pipes or anything like that.
We have lived here for nearly five years and although
I have had some strange (non frightening) feelings around/about
the place this is the only time anything like this has
happened.
The cottage is approx. 60 years old. |
Has anyone experienced anything similar
or can shed some light on it for me?
Hi bekka315, this sounds very
unusual indeed!
The fact that only you are being woken up by this incredibly
loud noise could be that you are hearing this noise
"psychically" rather than actually hearing
it audibly with your ears.
Perhaps the sound is of an event that happened in the
past that was somehow "recorded" into the
atmosphere of the place, or perhaps it is a spirit or
ghost trying to get your attention?
Does anyone else have any thoughts? Post a message on
the Discussion
Board.

Kirsty's Ouija Board Experience
Submitted by: Kirsty, Brisbane (28/04/03)
|
| I
have had many experiences with the unusual or inexplicable.
I would like to share an experience of mine as a form
of warning to those who are curious about Ouija boards
or seances. I can remember clearly the moment when I
got my own proof that something exists in another realm....
it was when I was having a seance with a friend approx.
We had done quite a few seances together, but there
was always the small doubt that the other person involved
was pushing the glass. On this particular occasion I
asked her to let me try by myself. When the glass moved,
there was no one else to doubt but myself, and I knew
I was not pushing the glass. I knew at that moment that
what I was playing around with was REAL. I then went
on to do several seances by myself over the next month
or 2 that lasted for a few hours each. I have not been
a part of a seance since then and would HIGHLY
recommend that NO ONE mess around with them without
first learning very clearly how to protect themselves.
Or better yet, attend one of the spiritual churches
in your state (who will probably advise you not to do
a seance) and learn about clairvoyance and spiritualism
if you are interested in pursuits of this fashion. The
reason I advise this is that I have learned first hand
the risks that you take.
Over the following 3 years I felt as though there was
a bad presence with me, my life deteriorated, my health
deteriorated, I was much more prone to depression than
previously. I can clearly remember going to bed one
night and hearing the babble of voices like being in
a crowded room. I thought that I must have become schizophrenic
or was going crazy. My own "inner voice" was drowned
out most of the time. When I looked within myself for
advice on what to do with any situation I got so many
conflicting opinions I was confused. I learned not to
listen to my thoughts because I felt I could not trust
them. I had my good days and my bad days, but the point
is I had many instances where I was scared, felt my
mind was weak, felt that I had something bad with me,
dragging me down.
The turning point came when attending spiritual church
for the first time. I was lucky enough to attend on
the night a highly respected clairvoyant based in Brisbane,
Jason MacDonald (one of the best I've ever seen) was
present to do clairvoyant readings for the congregation.
(As far as I know, most churches have a guest to do
clairvoyance each week) My question to him was "Is the
person that I've been talking to through automatic writing
really my (deceased) father?" (Automatic writing is
rather like a seance but the tool used is a pen and
paper instead of a glass and paper letters or Ouija
board. It is seen as not as dangerous... I still foolishly
do this from time to time...I know how to protect myself
now but I still feel the effects of the influence on
my mind for hours/days/weeks afterwards depending upon
who comes to talk to me) I digress,...His response to
me was "You did some seances a few years ago... you
picked up something... it is not a good presence". He
then went on to talk about how it had attached itself
to me and had been with me ever since. I had had this
very thought so many times and thought I was a candidate
for the loony bin!
|
I
took part in the healing meditation that night (group
meditation where some of the people are given hands
on spiritual healing by another trained member of
the congregation) and the difference it made to my
mind was beyond my expectations. Life hasn't been
perfect since then... it never is, but the feeling
of something bad being around me has gone. My mind
is my own and I know that my thoughts are my own.
If
you have an interest in seances I STRONGLY
urge that if you must do them, PLEASE learn
how to protect yourself first. If you do one thing,
please ask your spirit guides to protect you (whether
you believe they exist or not). You may feel that
it is silly... if you get your own proof that these
things are real you will be glad you bothered.
I don't profess to know everything about these things
or be particularly gifted with psychic ability but
since I was a teenager I have occasionally known things
before they have happened, known when a loved one
is ill or passed over and have had a few things come
through automatic writing in recent years that I could
not possibly have known that turned out to be true.
While putting sheets on my daughter's bed approx.
6 years ago I turned around to see my cigarette butt
that I had recently stubbed out (the lit end down)
standing the other way up, balanced in the middle
of the ashtray. There was no one home but my daughter
and myself and the ashtray was atop a tall chest of
drawers that my daughter, being a toddler, could not
reach even if she did have the motor skills accomplish
such a feat (which at age 2 she did not). I cannot
explain logically what I saw. I assume it was someone
trying to tell me that smoking in my daughter's bedroom
was a no-no. (I no longer smoke inside at all).
I am not trying to say that all ventures into the
inexplicable are bad. They can be very rewarding,
especially learning to communicate with your spirit
guides. But I am saying that doing so without learning
to do it the right way can be taking unnecessary risks
and lead you down the path that I walked for 3 years
of my life.
It is not worth it when a little prior knowledge can
keep you safe.
Thanks for your experience
and advice Kirsty, I'm sure that many people would
find it valuable and hopefully if they do decide to
use a Ouija board they'll avoid a similar experience

Ghostly Happenings

I
am 18 now, and 8 years ago before we moved we lived
in a long terraced row of small houses which dated around
110-120 years of age.
There was only me and my mother who lived in the house,
and 'weird things' always happened around the house.
Such as drawers opening and closing in the middle of
the night and sinks full of water in the morning. And
on some occasions when the weather was good, faint figures
of uniformed officers could be seen, both me and my
mum saw them. That used to scare the hell out of me,
And on several occasions I used to run down the stairs
and something used to attract my attention and when
I turned around there was that vague figure at the top
of the landing, maybe for only a second or two, but
it was there. Since we moved 8 years ago, The house
has been sold more times in the last 8 years than it
has in almost 100 years. How strange. |
Two years ago I went to see an old neighbour who lived
just 2 doors down from us, And three more reports of
similar activity had been reported in nearby houses.
I am still not yet sure what happened around that area
long ago, but all I know so far is the street previously
was an old bus depot. I am unsure but I have heard from
my grandma who lived in the area.
That the bus depot was destroyed in a huge fire, Dates
still not sure.

Locomotive Spirit #2
Submitted by: David Williamson, Australia (19/04/03)

I
agree with Paul Bird (see Locomotive
Spirit on Page
9) about that sprit as I was there for a visit last
weekend during Steamfest.
We got to the loco shed and our tour guide was taking
us around where #30 (that same engine) was simmering.
The whistle sounded a bit and no one was in the cab
as only museum members are allowed to, only the ones
who were signed up to do so.
The most freaky thing that happened while our group
was there, was nothing to do with the engine but inside
the shed there was a figure of a man in overalls and
a drivers cap standing in this dark area. Even the tour
guide stopped talking to someone who believe it or not
asked about the ghost that they had heard of in the
museums Newsletter. |
One
lady who was there burst into tears and she said something
like "I can't stand this area it's making me cry"
and bolted out of the gate and ran toward the train
platform.
Now I know what the museum member (Paul Bird) was talking
about as I just read his experience before writing mine.
He is still there, he hasn't gone.
