Sydney Ghost Tour

Looking for a "different" way to enjoy a great night out?
Start seeing things you have looked at forever around Sydney Harbour,
the North Shore & the
Middle North Shore in a whole new way!

Ghosts of Christmas Past Tour

Santa Claus? Reindeer? Mistletoe? Six White Boomers? How did all that happen - and what happened when suddenly people of European descent found themselves on the other side of the world where the seasons were suddenly "Upside down"?

The "Ghosts of Christmas Past" Twilight Ghost Tour is a fun "Family Friendly" Ghost tour (Ages 8 and up  - we still visit historic cemeteries at night) where we reveal how the traditions we follow today came to be, and how they evolved over time to become what we now recognise.

There is a whole hidden history of Sydney, that as part of our visiting with the "Ghosts of Christmas Past" we reveal - that will have you never being able to look at many of Sydney's major landmarks quite the same way ever again!

This tour begins at the entrance of Stocklands Mall Cammeray Square, on the corner of Amherst and Miller Streets in Cammeray, (5 to 7 minutes drive north of North Sydney) at the family friendly time of  7.15pm, and goes for approximately two hours.

As with all of our tours, our standard terms and conditions apply, with the requirement that all participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Booking in advance is absolutely essential, as this tour is only available for the next for the next few weeks, and numbers are strictly limited for O.H. & S. reasons.

Cost: $35 per adult, $25.00 per child of 7 years and up / Concession card holders, or $100.00 for a family of 5 for 2 hours.

Tour 1 - Lower North Shore

Departing from Cammeray Square, on the corner of Miller Street and Amherst Street in Cammeray (as marked on the map below), this tour goes past historic mansions and cottages (one of which served as a mortuary) and through the oldest, perhaps even the most historically significant, cemetery on the north side of the Harbour - the St Thomas' Anglican Church Cemetery of North Sydney.

Hear the Haunted Heritage of these sites including classic local ghost stories, urban legends and myths, true tales of tragedy, crime, murder, mystery, magic, love & death.

The pioneers, for whom much of the north shore is named, are buried here - the Milsons, Gordons, Pymbles, Berry, Wollestonecraft, the Ives of St Ives, and so forth. It is also the final resting place of the explorers, engineers, soldiers, sailors, doctors, scientists, judges, lawyers, politicians, clergy, farmers and businesspeople, who were largely responsible for not only building the north side of Sydney as it is today, but our country as we know it.

There are tales on this tour of grand adventure, love, lust, greed, murder, cannibalism, mayhem and intrigue from our Georgian and Victorian era past - and with so many reports of paranormal activity on the north shore, you never know who might make their "presence" felt. It is even more likely that you may never look at the north side of the harbour quite the same way again.... Are you brave enough to want to find out Sydney's hidden secrets?

We have a lot of good fun and belly laughs on this tour. Most people just come in comfortable, casual evening clothes. If you decide that you want to really make a night out of it, walk on the wild side and dress up as your favourite "Rocky Horror" character, or other spooky figure - knock yourself out. Just remember to bring something warm, and some good walking shoes - it gets a bit cold for Victoria's secret Lingerie and fishnet stockings on winter nights, and graveyards can be a bit unforgiving on high heels...!

The excellent restaurants of Cammeray, such as the Epoque Belgian Beer Cafe, Sage, Pizza Olla, Credo, Jason's Kitchen, and other Thai and Italian restaurants based on Miller Street, & proximity to Norths Leagues club, make this tour a really good start for a great night out for individuals, couples - or social, bucks or Hens groups

^ This tour is now running most nights of the week in December, after the Family Friendly "Ghosts of Christmas Past" Twilight tour at 7.15pm . New tour times are 9.15 pm, and 11.15 pm. As this tour has restricted numbers, please ring to confirm availability on 02 8197 0363.

Cost: $35 adults, $25 concession card holders, $20 teenagers supervised by a responsible adult for 2 hours
(Tours not suited to children younger than 14-15.)

Bring: good walking shoes, umbrella, cameras permitted. You must be sober to participate in this tour due to safety concerns.

Tour 2 - Middle North Shore

If you are looking for a "different" way to spend and enjoy a good night out? For less than the price of a concert ticket per person, for 90 minutes to two hours I will mentally transport you into a different world. To this day, Royal North Shore Hospital still captures headlines with real life horror stories - and it has a 125 year history.... You will visit a world where you will laugh, start seeing things you have looked at forever - particularly around medicine - in a whole new way, hear things that will run chills down your spine – and leave you with the adrenaline rush of a good, fun, scare!

Departing from the centre water feature in the main courtyard of St Leonards Station in St Leonards (as per the marker on the map below), this tour focuses on the later Victorian era, into the Edwardian era, and the "Movers and Shakers" of all denominations who built the north shore.

We start with the forgotten history of the railway itself, then move through the historic sections of the grounds of the the Royal North Shore Hospital , then on to one of Sydney's most important heritage cemeteries - Gore Hill Memorial Cemetery.Hear the Haunted Heritage of these sites including classic local ghost stories, urban legends and myths, true tales of tragedy, crime, murder, mystery, magic, love & death.

Moving from premises on Willoughby Road, Crows Nest in the late 19th Century, RNSH was deliberately built next to a cemetery...so if you see RNSH in the news -remember, expectations weren't set very high to start with!!!. We tell the stories of the turn of the 19th to 20th century buildings, and the often heroic efforts of staff and patients of yesteryear, some of whom current staff suspect and feel are still doing their rounds, over a century later.

Then, on to Gore Hill Cemetery, where a veritable "Who's Who" of late Victorian and Edwardian era Sydney were buried alongside the humble, in the first general cemetery on the north shore. Hidden amongst the family crypts and tombstones are stories that would make a Sidney Sheldon novel look very tame.... and the spirits of those taken before their time have reportedly made their presence felt....

We have a lot of fun and good belly laughs on this tour. Most people just come in comfortable, casual evening clothes. If you decide that you want to really make a night out of it, walk on the wild side, and dress up as your favourite "Rocky Horror" character, some other spooky figure, or as a doctor or nurse - knock yourself out. Just remember to bring something warm, and some good walking shoes - it gets a bit cold for Victoria's secret Lingerie and fishnet stockings out on winter nights, and graveyards can be a bit unforgiving on high heels...!

The proximity to public transport, Gilroys hotel, and St Leonards Tavern, make this tour a really good start for a great night out, for social, bucks or Hens groups
