My
husband and I have just vacated an old rented house on the Gold
Coast. We had lived at this address for more than 4 years and I'd
always felt a bit apprehensive about the back bedroom. My husband
did not seem to notice anything so I just dismissed my feelings
as a silly childish fear of a room that was unused and empty.
Anyway we had experienced quite a few domestic dramas with the old
house like mould, leaking roof, blocked loo etc and because the
landlord always refused to repair anything that when we left my
husband took photo's of all the rooms in the house, outside etc
to prove we had left it in a favourable condition.
Needless to say nothing is amiss with any photo's taken of the house
except for that horrible room where there is some sort of fog/mist/shape!!!???
My husband did not notice anything strange on the day but it kind
of freaks me out that I may have been right about sensing something
or someone was always watching in that room. But anyway my mum (who
has stayed in that room during the times she has visited from New
Zealand) insists that I send the photo to someone to look at. She
jokes that 'our friend' was saying goodbye.... hmmmm not sure I
like the thought of that.
I can add a couple more things - once when I was putting washing
on the line (there is a door that leads from the 'affected' room
straight to the backyard...... odd design aye!) I felt like someone
was standing behind me near the shed (the room was flanked by our
garage and shed).
I wasn't alarmed because I thought it was my husband who may have
come home earlier then usual and walked through the shed to the
backyard (it didn't register at the time but no one could approach
without me hearing as they would have had to lift up the rollup
garage door which is very noisy) and then suddenly I could smell
very strong cigarette smoke and as my husband doesn't smoke the
hairs on my neck stood on end! Not because I thought it was a ghost,
I actually thought it was an intruder, like someone coming to rob
our house!
So I decided to play it cool and keep my back turned and pretend
I wasn't scared and then I snuck a peek at where I thought the person
was standing and I swear I saw a middle-aged man, leaning against
the house and kind of smiling at me. I turned back to put down whatever
I had in my hands and turned around to confront him but there was
no one there!
It was a very hot day so I just put it down to mild heat stroke
and ran inside and didn't finish hanging out my washing...tee hee!
Another strange event was not witnessed by me but by a friend popping
in for a visit. This happened about a year ago.
When Donna came into the house she asked why Nick wasn't at work
and why he would be wearing a silly brown coat on a hot day. I informed
Donna that my husband WAS at work and then Donna said 'oh I must
have seen the ghost' - I didn't really think much of this as Donna
is a fun person and I thought she was just kidding around.

But anyway Donna came to visit us here at our new house on the weekend
and I told her how Nick had taken a photo of something strange in
'that room' and she said she wasn't surprised because of what she
had seen that day. It was then I remembered her making those strange
comments and thinking she had been kidding around BUT Donna then
informed me she had seen the 'man' through the window and he was
in the house!!!!!!
I'd always thought she had been referring to someone OUTSIDE the
house and just put it down to an elderly neighbour passing by -
I had never realised the person she had seen on the day was INSIDE.
This really freaked me out and I'm so glad we aren't there anymore!
The other 'event' happened when I was talking on the phone to a
friend and I looked into our bedroom which had a window which flanked
'the room' and faced into 'the room'. From where I was sitting in
the lounge I could just glimpse this window and I saw someone looking
back at me! I screamed and told Skye what I'd seen she told me to
get out of the house and to stay on the line with her (we have cordless
phone). I ran out of the house and just stood outside telling Skye
I didn't know what to do, I was just freaking out. Again I thought
it was an intruder but then because of that time when I was hanging
out the washing I thought it could have something to do with it
but anyway I got up enough courage to run back in, grab my car keys
and left to go shopping and didn't return until I knew my husband
would be home!
I should also mention there is no way someone 'normal' could have
been looking through the window as it is too high up for anyone
of normal height to peer through - they would of had to have been
at least 7ft tall!
Sorry this is all very long - apart from all the there was my usual
feelings that someone was watching ALL the time. I didn't always
feel 'bad vibes' but more like 'annoyance' that whatever it was
seemed to sometimes get annoyed when we'd go into the room. Because
the inside loo was always blocking we would use the bathroom that
was built off the 'affected' bedroom so would have to pass through
this room to go outside and turn immediately right into the other
bathroom. As I said this house has a very strange design - what
we think has happened is that 'the room' used to be the garage and
was converted into a bedroom. The reasons for this is that to get
to 'the room' one would need to go through the second bedroom and
then down a big step into it. So it was definitely not originally
used as a bedroom.
The house is now being rented out again and I'd be very interested
to know whether the new tenants notice anything in that room.
