Sarah's ghostly visits
Visions of JFK Jnr indicate serious turmoil in Sarah Jessica Parker's marriage to Matthew Broderick
February 4, 2002

Sarah Jessica Parker is having ghostly visits from old flame John F. Kennedy Jnr. The Sex and the City star says she's seen the late JFK Jnr 10 times in the past few months.

But sources say rather than frightening her, the apparitions bring Sara, 36, comfort as she faces a deepening marriage crisis.

The address had a passionate whirlwind romance with John in 1991 and has told friends that the torch she carried for him was never extinguished completely.

"Sometimes I'll awake with a start and he'll be standing at the end of my bed, staring down at me and smiling,'" she told a close friend. "It's very odd, but somehow comforting too, and not at all scary. I'll stare at him for a few moments then he'll disappear.

"It's happened 10 times. I feel so close to him when I see him and am filled with aching regret that I didn't make it worth with John. He was the love of my life."

Sarah realises her claims sound spooky, but she isn't fazed.

"You might think I'm crazy, but this isn't a dream. It's a vision - it's so real. I want to reach out and touch him, but when I try he fades away."

Sarah isn't alone in her ghostly memories. Splash mermaid Daryl Hannah, 41, reveals that she was so heartbroken over the end of her five-year affair with John that she considered taking her own life.

"I've heard Daryl say she wished it had been her who crashed to her death with John and not Carolyn," a New York friend of the actress says.

But while Daryl has finally put her demons behind her, finding love with actor Val Kilmer, Sarah isn't so lucky.

Her marriage to actor Matthew Broderick, 41, is said to be in deep crisis, and she's reportedly telling friends it could soon end in divorce.

He didn't accompany Sarah to the Golden Globes, where she won her third best actress award for her role as Carrie. Instead she took Sex and the City co-star John Corbett which is being interpreted as a sign there's more to the relationship than work.

Matthew says he had to be in New York on Sarah's special night for his Broadway play The Producers.

But one friend says this isn't true: "They've had problems for a while, but they always keep it hush-hush. There was one time he temporarily moved out during one of their trouble spots, but he came back."

Careerwise Sarah is on top of the world, but it seems her personal life is spinning out of control.

She told a friend: "I feel like I've been punched in the stomach. All of this turmoil is happening in my life at once.

"Matthew's a very quiet man. Even after living with him all this time he has these moats and walls and just wont let me in."

One source of conflict is Sarah's need for children. "Miranda is having a baby on the show, and that kicked my longing into high gear," she told her friend. "I see a kid on the street with his mom and cry because I want that too, but I'm nowhere close to it

"I want three babies, so I have to start very soon. Yet when I bring it up with Matthew he either doesn't want to discuss it or says we'll talk about it later. But we never do."

The real symbol that her life is in chaos is the new short haircut she showed off at the Golden Globes.

Says a close friend: "That's the glaring clue that something major is brewing. When she changes her hair it's a big deal. It means she's in the middle of huge change or something big is about to happen in her life."
