White
Jumper

| Well
this story isn't about me it is about my brother. Him and
about 4 mates went to Picton Tunnels.
They all linked arms and walked inside the tunnel, one of
my brothers mates were on the end of the line and he felt
something brush up against him and then they heard what sounded
like a bottle drop, so the person who was at the end of the
line pulled out his phone which had a bright light.
They were standing directly next to where it said "Come Courtney
Come" (Courtney being one of the girls who died there). They
all ran out of the tunnel petrified. My brothers friends wanted
to go back in where as my brother didn't. So my brother walked
back to the car while the other people went back in, he turned
around again and looked at the tunnel he saw what he thought
was his friend who was wearing a white jumper my brother quickly
said "I'm not going back in and I'm going back to the car".
When everyone else got back to the car he asked the person
who had the white jumper on "why did you come back when i
left?".
The person with the white jumper on said "i didn't come
back!". |
My brother quickly said sure you didn't, the friend swore
he didn't come back.
So he was very astounded by this encounter that he may have
had at Picton Tunnels.
We'd
like to mention that the Picton Tunnel is Council Owned
private property and is patrolled by local police. Anyone
found within or entering the property without permission
may be fined.
You can access the Tunnel legally on one of Liz Vincent's
Picton Tours. You can find more info
here.

The
Shadow
Submitted by: Morgan - Geraldton, Western Australia (Added

it
was during one of our usual hot summers here in Geraldton,
and me and my friend were at the skate park at around dusk.
we skated around for a bit, until we took a break and sat
up on the fun box. across the park, by the playground (the
skate park is at the back of a public park) i saw a dark
shadow, standing on the bridge of the playground. i thought
it might have been a stalker, or some loner that had nothing
better to do, so i threw it the middle finger, and got back
up to do a bit more skating. i didn't tell my friend, who
was too busy reading all the graffiti to look and see.
i watched it while skating for about a minute or so later
when it disappeared when i looked away for a few seconds.
so i shrugged it off. half an hour later, it was almost
completely dark, and we were about to leave. the park lights
hadn't come on yet. then the black thing returned, this
time it darted around the toilets and the playground. i
told my friend and he saw it too. we crapped ourselves.
there was no way out. the thing was blocking our only quick
way out - the path that leads to the road, and we were on
roller blades, so we couldn't cut across the hundred metres
of grass, because it was too slow and the shadow could easily
catch up (if it was hostile).
just as we made for taking our blades off and sprinting
it, the park lights turned on, and it disappeared with a
shriek, that got the dogs in the vicinity howling and crying.
so as we bladed back to my friends place, we saw many people
standing at their doors, perhaps wondering what the hell
was going on. we got a few 'damn kids' and 'scream like
that again and ill beat you to death' on our way back, but
i cant scream that high pitched. it was really freaky.

I've read a few comments in books and stuff, and i've come
up with a few different solutions:
-they're devils
-they're our guardian angels (what the hell?)
-they're evil ghosts
and so on but i think that they are here for a reason, and
that we're not allowed to know why, who, or what they are!
thanks for reading!!

When
I was 5
Submitted by: Kerry - Tasmania, Australia (Added 24/04/2004)

I've
had many paranormal experiences, throughout my life, I'm now
in my forties, I've even seen a ufo. But one of my earliest
experiences was when I was 5.......
We were living in an old brick rental house, in a suburb of
Melbourne, I shared my bedroom with my sister, and I know
this is going to sound so stupid, but most nights, Id be lying
in bed, and right near my ear, would start , what sounded
like an old woman saying "BOO", and then laughing, actually
it sounded more like cackling.
I'd hide under the blanket for hours sometimes, anyways, besides
this, the room always felt, heavy, and the feeling wouldn't
go away till the sun came up, I was always afraid, anyways
many years later, living in QLD, I was telling my mother and
sister about these experiences, because for some strange reason,
I never told her at the time...... my sister informed us,
in the same bedroom, she used to see an old lady always at
the end of her bed smiling!... and my mother had a frightening
experience in this bedroom, it was not at ground level, but
she heard a lot of banging from the room, during the day,
so went in to investigate, she said the room was cold, and
the noise was the window, being pounded on, but nobody/nothing
she could see, making the noise, she was so frightened she
ran outside, and sat in the backyard, till my father came
home, we were at school at the time..... |
apparently 2 elderly sisters had lived there before we moved
in, and one had died......
What really annoys me though, is why would a woman, even
in spirit, scare a small child like that!

Gaol Feelings
Submitted by: Stuart - Australia (Added 24/04/2004)

While
visiting the old Melbourne jail my wife and I experienced
and unusual sensation (hard to give it an appropriate word.
Anyway we have been together over 10 years so know each other
pretty well, neither of us has ever experienced anything paranormal
or ghostly etc. On this day we had been looking around for
a while and our 2 kids were off ahead poking in and out of
the cells. As we were standing outside of the corner cell
on the upper floor opposite the hanging beam we were both
over come by a really strong feeling of love I suppose is
the closest word I can think of. We were drawn to each other
and only a few seconds later the feeling subsided as quickly
as it came.
It doesn't sound very exciting when you write it down but
the feeling was so strong and effected us together plus most
paranormal, ghost experiences are usually portrayed as bad
and this one was the total opposite.
Anyway that's about it, anyone wanting to know more I would
be glad to help. |

Pam's
story: Mum..
Submitted by: Pam Dianne - Victoria, Australia (Added 24/04/2004)

i
was only 7 years old when my Mum died i think it was 27/2/1997
any way....
i came home from school on the bus, mum usually picks me up
but this day she wasn't there. i sat and waited till about
5:30. 2 hours after i was meant to be picked up.... so i started
to walk home and to get there quicker i took a shortcut through
the footy oval and in the middle of the oval i saw my mum
sitting in her wheel chair so i ran up to her and found her
sitting there blood everywhere and my dads gun next to her
on the ground. i thought the whole world was going to cave
in... i couldn't possibly survive without mum...
2 days later i was walking back to the house from the shed
with my dad and as i looked up i saw mum sitting in the kitchen
looking out the window at us waving. i tugged on dads shirt
sleeve not taking my eyes off mum he looked up and saw her
too and from that day forward dad wanted to move house but
we couldn't sell our house and we didn't have enough money
to go buy a new one just then.
we were living in that house for about 2 months and every
night i would get this cold icy feeling come over me it would
be at 8:00 that's when mum used to put me to bed i would sit
up in my bed looking as hard as i could into the gloom and
darkness of my room and my mum would walk into my room ...
not by door but through the wall, she sat on my bed next to
me and she told me the reason she died and that it wasn't
my fault. Her voice didn't sound like her normal voice it
was like it was 1 million voices all whispering at once sometimes
they moaned but not very often. She kissed my fore-head it
was cold as ice and it sort of burned a little while after
she'd gone... but not hot just really warm. |
i remember it was the last night i was going to spend in this
house and i sat up waiting for mum to come and say goodnight
i was going to hug her for the last time tonight cause we
left in the morning.... i waited.... nothing.... just silence
and darkness... i cried myself to sleep wanting to hear the
noise like a gentle breeze as she appeared through the wall...
but no, she never came.
in the morning i woke to find mum had painted on the wall
of my room in big yellow writing "i will love you always"
and as i was packing the last of my things into the car a
note fell out of my bag, it was from mum and she was apologising
for not coming last night and that she just couldn't bear
to say good bye to me and that no matter were i was in the
world she would always be there........
i haven't seen my mum since that day.... but every now and
then i feel that same cold icy sensation.... i am now 14

Violent
Spirit

Several
years ago I was Confronted with the most violent ghost I've
ever come across. It happened in Knoxville. Tenn.
I had taken three of my daughters to visit their grandmother.
She had rented this house off her sister who was a real estate
agent. She has a retarded daughter and a grandchild who was
just as bad. She never mentioned anything about the house
to me, but she told us we could stay there for the night.
My ex-mother in-law went back to a house she owned and left
my daughters and I there for the night.
My daughters ages were 21, 12, and 6. From the moment I walked
into the house I felt something strange, never knowing how
strange it would get. Before the night was was over, I had
skinned places on my knees, my nose was mashed and bleeding.
I was thrown clear across the room and into a wall which was
ten or twelve feet away from where I was sleeping.
The hair on the back of my neck, if it could have been measured
would have been straight up on the back! of my neck. There
is a lot more to this story.
I have been visited by ghosts all my life, but this was the
worst.
It was down right scary. |

Man
with jeans, an open checkered shirt & no shoes
Submitted by: Jules - Australia (Added 24/04/2004)

This
happened to my eldest son who was 5 years old at the time.
Before we bought our home we rented a flat on the 3rd floor,
on each floor there were two flats with a common wall between
us.
My sons' room was obviously next to the two younger boys that
lived next door. I knew my neighbours consisting of two boys
- 3 and 5 and their Mum and Dad.
One night I heard my son talking to someone late at night.
I got up to see what he was dreaming about, but instead of
me finding him asleep, he was sitting up in bed wide awake.
I asked him what he was doing and he told me there was a man
in his room with jeans on and a checkered coloured shirt on
open at the front and no shoes and when I called out he said
he must go and he walked through the common wall.
Thinking he was dreaming I tucked him in bed and said to go
to sleep. A few nights later I heard him talking again to
someone or something. I yelled out to go to bed, then I heard
him whispering, as I came up the hall way he was saying goodbye
to someone in a whispering voice. I turned the light on and
he told me the same story, the man with the red checkered
shirt on that was open at the front and jeans on was here
talking to him and he walked through the wall.
Mind you my youngest boy was in his cot fast asleep and for
this person to walk through the wall he would have had to
walk straight through the cot as it was pushed up on the wall.
I asked my son how did he go through the wall because your
brothers' cot is there and he told me he walked straight through
it. |
A few days later I came home from work and our neighbour was
going into her flat, she asked me in for coffee, so I accepted.
She told me this really strange story that her two boys had
seen a man in their room that came through the wall from our
place, he was wearing a red shirt and jeans, no shoes. The
hairs on the back of my neck rose up and realised my son was
telling the truth.
I told her what my son had told me and we both sat in silence
for a while, it was really eerie.
He never saw this man again after that night, nor did the
children next door.

Frightening
Presence
Submitted by: Stpaul - Minnesota, USA (Added 24/04/2004)

About
4 years ago, i was living with my family in a duplex house
(i've moved from there now!Whew!, thankfully!)
One night, i was taking a shower, and i can still remember
and feel everything so vividly and completely:
i was in the middle of taking my clothes off when i felt an
overwhelmingly strong presence in the bathroom with me. i
thought that i was going a bit crazy because i was thinking
too much of my cousin who had committed suicide just a few
days past. i don't know him well, but have seen him before.
well, i was really freaked out by the time i was down to my
last item, but i held onto my courage. i felt like there was
something very odd, like a pair of eyes watching my every
movement. my goose bumps were all out, but i had to take my
shower.
while taking the shower, i felt the presence transfer into
the stall with me...the presence was so strong and uncomfortable
that i couldn't hang onto my sanity anymore... i felt it every
way i turned...so i got out and grab my towel then unlock
the door and ran down the small hallway into my bedroom.
Upon my entrance into my room, i heard my older sister (at
the time, she was 9 years old. she was also very ill, and
was asleep until i came bursting into the room, at which she
had awoken a few mins before my entrance) teasing my little
sister about something.
i turned towards her way (my little sister) and she was pointing
wildly towards my direction, crying "GHOST!!GHOST!!" repeatedly. |
Completely Freaked out of my mind, i jumped on the nearest
bed and backed myself into the corner, facing the doorway
as my little sister continued to cry. By then, my older sister
had stopped her teasing because she must have felt the fear
hanging like a thick fog in the room.
By then, my mom had rushed in to figure out what all the commotion
was about.
Ever since that completely strange and utterly frightening
night, i had someone stand out the door to guard it and talk
to me while i was in there, just for the sense of security.
my sisters and i did that for a while until we felt like everything
was back to normal.
i never wish for an experience like that to happen again,
ever, in my life...this is the closest time i ever got to
experiencing the presence of another worldly being, or perhaps,
i was just going crazy in that room... but i don't think so...
i probably wasn't alone...

Empty
Blue Room with Fire on the walls.
Submitted by: Gillian - Sydney, Australia (Added 24/04/2004)
|
I
do not have much access to ask around, but I know there must
be more people out there who have experienced what I have,
and another two.
I have no image for you but if you want I can draw the image
of what the creatures look like.
PLEASE READ ON!
This is very important. The most amazing and terrifying thing
I have ever experienced.
When I was 16 (Now 22) My friends and I were playing around
in a seance, which, unfortunately was working a little too
well and we were all scared. We had planned if anything too
strange happened and we got scared we would meditate that
we were in a safe place and each described where that was.
It was at this time I seemed to fall into a trance. I remember
it but I couldn't control it and my friends were talking to
me and asking me questions.
It was all inside my head but so vivid (this isn't the weird
part yet) What happened was this:
I was at the entrance to a cave, I walked down the cave and
came across a wooden door. I opened the door and there was
a room, a blue room. There was nothing in the room but a table
in the centre and on the table there was a box. I didn't open
the box, I was afraid of it.
I left the room and there was another door. I opened the door
and this room was completely empty, BUT, on the walls there
was the flickering image of fire, as though there was a fire
in the centre of the room, and there were silhouettes of "vikings"
with horns and batons dancing round the fire.
At this point i was so scared they woke me out of it.
It didn't mean anything to me, I told my parents about it
once and my dad went white, as did my mother. Apparently when
he has always had these dreams of an empty room with nothing
in it but a table with a box. He says every time he dreams
it he gets closer to the box and when he opens it he knows
he'll die. He never told me about it but he told my mum.
I didn't let it bother me. |
One night, when I was 19, i was out with some friends who
were totally unassociated to anyone from my old group who
knew about what happened. There is no way anyone could have
told her what happened that night. We got onto the subject
of the paranormal, i hadn't even thought of that night.
A girl started to us of a strange experience her and her friend
once had. They were both at home at their separate houses
and they fell in to a strange trance like state. They apparently
both saw exactly the same thing. They were in a house, and
they walked up the stairs. They went into a room, it was blue
and empty and had nothing in it but a round table with a jar
on it. they leave the room and go to the next room, it is
also empty. (By this time i was already chilled and white
and petrified). Her words were "It was empty but it seemed
like a fire was in the room and you could see it reflecting
on the walls. And there were shadows of men dancing around
the fire, demons, with horns and holding spiked poles. But
there was nothing in the room."
Apparently both of them had the vision.
I said to her then "you will not believe me when i tell you
this as you will justify it by telling yourself i am lying,
but i will always know that you saw what i saw, as you would,
if i had told you first"
Even writing this now has brought chills all over me.
If anyone else out there has seen this, please, I need to
know. There must be a reason.
In addition, when I was young, around 4 years old, I remember
often I would see these long silhouette human figures dancing
around the walls. My mother explained that if i looked at
a white jumper and then at the wall it looked like there was
a black jumper on the wall. This satisfied me at the time,
but i still remember it very clearly. I do not know if the
two are related.
Thank you so much if you post this.

Julie's
Ghostly Experiences
Submitted by: Julie - Perth, WA, Australia (Added 24/04/2004)
|
Hello,
my name is Julie, I live in Perth Western Australia. I am
forty one years old and find myself to be of sound mind and
body.
This one particular experienced occurred when I was living
in the suburb of Seven Hills, Sydney New South Wales Australia
from 1990-1998. My husband, two boys and I moved into our
new house in Seven Hills Sydney NSW in 1990. We had been there
a short time, when strange things kept occurring. Nothing
phased me really, as my parents are susceptible to ghostly
experiences over the years of growing up.
My son Jeffrey, who was three at the time used to play in
his room and talk too, which I thought was imaginary friends.
He used to tell me he was playing with a lot of friends and
would play for ages in his room by himself. With obviously
these "friends". I did not worry to much as children tend
to play with an imaginary friend; my oldest son used to do
it (but now I am thinking, was it imaginary?).
One day I decided to clean my car and I had taken his car
seat out of the car to vacuum the back seat and I placed his
seat in the hallway of our home. Jeffrey decided to sit in
the seat and pretend he was in the back seat of the car and
we were driving. I could hear from the kitchen when I was
making our lunch; Jeffrey was imitating with his voice the
screeching of tyres and talking to himself whilst sitting
in his car seat. After a while I could hear him having a conversation
with "someone". He was becoming very upset and saying in a
loud voice "no you are" and repeating "no I'm not, you are!"
standing up with hands on his little hips saying "I'm going
to tell my mum".
He jumped out of his car seat and came into the kitchen and
said "mummy am I ugly?". I said "no" of course and asked him
what and who was he playing with? As there were a lot of kids
in our street and they always seemed to end up at my place,
I thought one of the children had wandered to the front door
and they were arguing as this was the case most of the time
with all the children. He told me "his friend", and to come
to the door, which I did and he pointed to the front door
in the hall way and said "there" as he pointed to the vacant
front door. I could see no one, but he was so sure there was
someone there. I asked him again "where" and he pointed to
the door and went to the place where someone was obviously
standing and pointed to them as though someone was standing
right next to him at the front door. "Here mummy" very annoyed
I could not see. I told him I could not see anyone and he
became quite upset that I could not see this person and he
turned to this apparition and said to me "here! Just here!"
he was so convincing. I told him to tell this person that
he was not ugly and leave him alone and leave. Jeffrey looked
at this imaginary person and told him what I said with a poke
of the tongue to end the sentence. I looked at Jeffrey and
said is it gone and he said "yes". I went back to the kitchen
feeling a bit uneasy, but believed that my three year old
had actually encountered a ghostly apparition.
Not long after that our fire alarms used to go off without
any warning, not just the bleating they do in a fire, but
like a code, the one in my eldest sons bedroom would go off
at will then when I would go into the room it would stop.
The one in Jeffrey's room would bleep 5 to 10 times a day.
We changed the batteries, yet it would still go off at any
time of night and day, very strange stuff.
My mother came to stay with us one weekend, as my father was
away with work. She stayed in Jeffrey's room. That first evening
my husband and I went out for dinner and my Mum baby sat the
children. When we got home, the kids were asleep and so was
my mother, we went to bed only to be awoken by my mother scrambling
out of the bedroom and waking us up. She said she was rudely
woken up by someone or something dragging her out of Jeffrey's
bed and found her half in and half out of the bed on the floor.
When she realised what was going on, she said she saw about
20 faces all around her, men, women and children and they
were all talking to her, but could not hear what they were
saying, it was all chatter, but she said she could see their
faces all very clearly. |
Another time I had a day off work and thought I would not
do a thing, but relax and watch a movie. As I sat on the lounge
which faced the television, the curtain lifted in front of
the television and hung there for a while, blocking the view
of the television. I looked at the curtain and said something
like "oh Jesus not now" and it dropped back down very slowly.
Mind you I did not have any windows open, so there was no
wind, nor did I have a fan or air conditioner on, so there
was no explanation.
Another experience was when my husband and I were in the lounge
room, he was on the lounge and I was in the kitchen. We were
arguing at the time and it was not pleasant and our argument
got very heated. There was a knock at the door and we ignored
it and continued on with our discussion. The knock on the
door happened again and our train of thought went to the door
wondering who the hell it was and thought "shit we are arguing,
who would come to the door and not know we are in the middle
of a dispute". I yelled out "yes" in an abrupt manner, yet
no one acknowledged us. Jeff, my husband called out again
and there was no one there. We both looked at each other and
said "someone doesn't want us to argue" and we ended the argument
right there and then, when we inspected the front door and
no one was there. The children were at school and our neighbours
were all at work. Very strange.
We owned cats and dogs and every now and again our dogs used
to wake up and stare into the corner of the room or get up
and hair would stand up on end. Our cats were the same; they
would freak out at times tearing at the curtains, hiss and
carry on and or run to the door to get out.
The final thing to happen in our home was when my grandmother
had died, yet I was not aware of it. My father had traveled
to Ireland to tend to his mother as she had a stroke and was
in coma for about 2 weeks. He had left Ireland and she was
still in a coma, yet on his way home she had died (he was
notified when he landed at Sydney airport 24 hours later).
I was asleep this particular night when I was awoken by a
strange feeling of dread. I lay there in the dark staring
out into it and felt very uneasy and scared, I cuddled up
to Jeff my husband and he comforted me, I then turned towards
the doorway to try and get some sleep. There I saw a small
figure (my Gran was about 4' tall) standing there in the doorway,
I adjusted my eyes and thought it was sleep that was causing
me this hallucination and did not think any more of it. My
eldest son's fire alarm went off and I got up, meanwhile the
apparition had gone. I went into my son's room to check the
alarm, it was all okay and I went back to my room and fell
asleep. I was used to the alarm going off every now and again
over the years and it was not big worry, but I always checked
it to no avail. The next morning my mother rang me to tell
me my father was home, but my grand mother had died that night.
I realised then that it was my grandmother that was visiting
me for the last time.
My family have had some very strange unexplainable paranormal
happenings throughout my lifetime and nothing really phases
me now. Even now we are experiencing strange events in my
Western Australian home. I put it down to: I am lucky to have
these paranormal experiences, I must be a connection from
this world to the next and they are trying to contact me for
one reason or another, I do not know what yet. I must state
that my husband, who was a real sceptic through and through,
now believes there is life after death due to some of the
experiences from myself and my family since he has known me
for the last 20 years. Our family are a magnet for the walking
dead, I hope it continues, it is very exciting, but scary
stuff and every time it happens I feel privileged and also
a little scared.

Me
and my friend where cleaning out my room @ about 9:20 pm and
my mum and dad had gone out.We went out to the kitchen to
get a drink, and to let the dog in so she could sit with us
but for sum reason she wouldn't come in she was really scared
so i closed the curtains and shut the door, seconds later
sumthing ran through the curtain and the sensor lights where
flashing we got really scared and ran back to my room but
i hadn't shut the door properly my friend was talking to one
of our other friends on the phone,so i tried to put what had
happened behind me and continued cleaning. About five minutes
later i herd a noise coming from the kitchen i freaked and
told my friend,i ran up to the door and slammed it and stood
up against it and so did my friend we where holding each others
hands for comfort and so we wouldn't get as scared but i freaked
and started panicking i rang my dad on his mobile and told
him, he told us to let the dog in but i told him she wouldn't
come in.
We heard more noises this time footsteps and dragging pants
she started freaking and at that stage we didn't know wot
to do. So i decided to call my friend that lives around the
corner she picked up the phone and i immediately started yelling
at her telling her to put her mum on the phone so she did
and then we told her mum to come and pick us up we waited
quietly in my room up against the door and then we herd the
car horn so we ran out as fast as we could and went to her
house! |
Then my mum picked us up from there and we went home. Later
when we told mum about it she didn't believe us as usual parents
don't believe anything we say but we know something was there
and we know it doesn't like us! L8ter that night we went to
bed and stayed up to talk my friend needed to go to the toilet
so she left me until she came back, when she came back she
was almost in tears i asked wot was wrong and she said that
she saw a shadow of a child but whine she explained it to
me it was weird she said it saw her but went away which made
it pretty scary that she saw it but what really made me freak
was she said it came back after her!(this has happened a number
of times in my house things such as a little girl calling
my friends names and thing s moving and cold breezes are really
common in my house and i really want to find out who this
person is!)

Quarantine
Station Feelings

On
visiting the Quarantine Station several years ago, with my
daughter; when we were in the shower block I was totally convinced
that a cold draught was coming from the back, right-hand side
of the building, I asked my daughter if she felt it too and
she said, not really, then I felt terrified as if there was
someone waiting at the back of the room for us, although our
group had left the building (as we had strayed behind ) it
was imperative to leave, immediately as I felt terrified!
Also, in the Morgue, I had this feeling of a great weight
on my lungs, I felt as if I was having difficulty breathing
and although it was only momentary the feeling was considerable
enough to cause me concern! I have been to the Quarantine
Station in Manly twice, and I love it and have a strange feeling
of being familiar with it, even though I was only a short
term visitor I felt somewhat at home there! |

well
this might not seem scary to you but at the time i could of
pooed my pants
it all began when my friend slept over at mine. my mum and
dad wasn't in that night because they went to the pictures.
i'd encountered a few strange things in my house before such
as banging and the lights going off. i have a dog and i thought
it might be her and the lights going of was just technical
problems. i didn't tell my friend anything as she would probably
get freaked out and wouldn't come to my place.
that night we was on the computer upstairs when we heard woooooooshing
noises but we just thought it was the wind later on my friend
stick wanted a drink, so we went down stairs.
i have had an extension put on my house and it has a window
between the kitchen and the extension as stick got out a glass
and went to the tap to fill it up as she looked through the
window she could see a figure........ but it was only her
reflection. That freaked us out so we stayed down stairs!

i went upstairs because i needed the toilet but was startled
to see a white translucent figure sitting on my bed looking
at a picture of ME.
i screamed and ran down stairs i later found out by my mum
that my Grandad died hear a few years before i was born. he
still visits me, but I'm not as scared any more
