Sleepover

It
was about 2 years ago and my friend had a sleepover.
Their grandpa had died close to their birthday (which
was the day of their sleepover)when they were young.
He had always wanted to see them and he got his chance..
It was the middle of the night and everyone was still
awake. Her parents and brother had already gone to bed
and fallen asleep. One of the girls had to get a kleenex
from downstairs, so she went to get one by herself.
While she was down there she claimed to see a woman
standing by her giant fishtank. She ran up the stairs
half crying and told us about it. We all did not believe
her at first, so we went downstairs to see for ourselves.
When we slowly went down the stairs, there was nothing
by the fishtank. When we all turned to go back upstairs,
everyone stopped and stared. In front of us was an old
man with his face buried in his hands on his knees.
We all were too scared to move. |
When we got ourselves together, we screamed up the stairs
to her parents or whoever we could awake.
Nobody ever came so we ran up the stairs and sank into
our covers.
My friends and I don't like to talk about this very
often. It wasn't tell a long time after the occurrence
that we realized when we were screaming at the top of
our lungs, nobody could hear us. Nothing this major
has happened to my friend since.

Haunted
Police Station

| This
happened to my Dad and he told my brother and I about
it years later. My Dad had been a police officer in
the NSW Police Force for 37 years and retired a couple
of years ago.
Dad used to tell us of one of the Police Stations he
had worked at which was haunted. It had been the George
Street North Police Station in Sydney's "The Rocks"
area.
I don't know much of the previous history of the building
but Dad did mention something about it previously being
a mortuary. |
Apparently at a certain time of the day a middle aged
gentleman would appear, dressed in a brown cardigan,
and walk through the station and disappear.
Dad didn't say much more about it but it didn't seem
to unnerve him either.

When
I was younger I was driving 100km an hour down a highway
in Victoria with my wife and two boys at that time.
I was wearing shorts and the window of the car was open.
Well in came a bee and (this is absolutely true) went
up my shorts, I was looking down and trying to get the
bee out, when a large hand went on top of mine and turned
the steering wheel right, I looked up to see a huge
tree speeding up in front of me then the road. |
I had no time to think. but if it was not for an angel
I would be dead today.
This is just one of the experience's I've had.

Yet
another experience I have had was when I was in a rented
house in Broken Hill NSW.
At six every morning this door would open.
The door had one of those handles that you had to pull
down otherwise it would not open, plus it was very sticky
- the door had to be pushed open.
I tied a small rope to the handle holding it up attached
to a hook above the door, and also jammed a chair under
the handle of the door, and I sat and waited and sure
enough the handle came down and the door opened. |
I enquired next door and found that the previous tenant
was a young single mother with a little daughter. She
had committed suicide at six in the morning, and that
bedroom was her daughters.
Once again, I waited till ix and when the door opened
I told her to stop that her daughter was not there and
to go to the light.
The door never opened again.

Ghostly
Housemate

Hmmmmm.
The very first time my boyfriend took me to his "beach
pad" I knew something wasn't right.
The house was very old, built with fibro asbestos and
only 4 houses back from the beach. I mentioned to him
on that particular night that the place had a "vibe" to
it. He just shrugged and we went on our way.
A couple of months later, me, my boyfriend and his housemate
were sitting in the lounge room watching tv. An ad had
come on, so I took this opportunity to head down to one
of the back bedrooms to get something.
On returning back to the lounge room, something prompted
me to look into my boyfriend's housemates' room, which
was situated at the back of the house next to my boyfriend's
and the only light on in the house was the hall light.
On turning my head and looking in his room (as I type
this my eyes fill with water and I get goose bumps), I
saw the shadow of a body standing what seemed to be on
the bed, against the wall where the bed head would have
been if there was one, directly in between both pillows.
What seemed like an eternity of just staring (but I know
was really on about 5 seconds) at first I thought it may
have been a coat hanging, but common sense reminded me
that a coat couldn't be hanging from the pillow end of
the bed!!!
I looked away for a split second and then looked back
again..... it was still there!!! |
Well, what felt like a "run" at the time, was a quick
trot back to the lounge room, where I mentioned my experience
to my boyfriend. He literally "glared" at me and went
silent.
He then muted the TV and told me the story of how a
previous housemate had commented that someone tapping
him on the shoulder had awoken him one night, where
he opened his eyes and turned around to find nothing
or nobody there.
When he decided to look into it further, he had discovered
that someone had actually died in that house.
When we had finished discussing both the story and my
linked experience, we both headed down to his housemates'
bedroom and stood in the hallway and peered in.
There was nothing in there!
The shadow had gone and so had the eerie feeling.
Over the next year, I didn't really experience anything
more in that house, however I never felt completely
comfortable there, so we ended up spending more and
more time at my place.

One
day I was driving to work, listening to music as usual,
dreading the day ahead when all of a sudden I heard
someone cough from the backseat of my car.
I immediately panicked, a thousand thoughts going through
my mind on who could be in the back seat.
I did a quick scan turning my head whilst driving, I
didn't see anyone, however I couldn't see the back floor
very well so I thought I would play it cool for the
time being, and have a better look at the next set of
traffic lights - if whoever it was didn't reveal themselves
first! |
Of course, totally UNLIKE every other morning, every single
light was green so I couldn't turn around till I finally
pulled into my parking spot at work.
Taking a deep breath I turned around and looked at the
backseat...
No
one was there!

Police
Experiences

I
am a police officer and have been in the job for 9 years.
I never believed in all this stuff until the last 3
years or so when I have seen and heard a great deal
of things.
As
you can imaging a great deal of police buildings and
there sites have a sordid past. I could tell you some
stories and some that others have told me! If I get
time at the end I will list police buildings in WA that
are widely reputed to be haunted.
I
worked at the Traffic Branch at the corner of Wellington
and Plain Streets, in East Perth for on 5 years out
of the 9 I have been an officer. The first two was early
in my career and I heard stories but saw nothing as
I was a traffic patrolman and usually on the track or
in company with many others.
As
time went on the building slowly wound down its operations
and it was no longer a hive of activity 24 hours a day.
I was in the country in a Station that was supposedly
haunted for 3 years, however I never saw a thing but
often felt uneasy in certain parts. (Narrogin Police
Station 180 km south of Perth).
I
then transferred to the Major Crash Investigation Section
where for 3 years I attended state wide (and it is a
BIG state) attending at and investigating horrific car
crashes, buses, trains etc. etc. Many involved children.
So I would often be at the Morgue in the early hours
and never really phased me. Ghosts.....what a load of
rubbish!
Anyway,
it all started about two months after I arrived, I was
upstairs where our office was located and working alone
at 2 in the morning, hairs went up on the back I went
very cold (and this was mid summer) and papers on my
desk ruffled a bit as if wind was flying past them.
All the windows, doors etc. were closed up tight and
I just felt weird and hurriedly finished my duties and
left. Over 3 years this happened only twice, other times
I worked all hours alone with minimal fuss.
I
went to a bad crash about a day later, 2 deaths, I went
to one the following day, 2 deaths and one about 4 or
so days after that, 1 death. So in about 6 days I had
dealt with 5 deaths. It was big news in Perth, all were
from drunken drivers or reckless drivers and the press
had it well covered. A short while later a reporter
attended downstairs at our office and took a photo for
a Perth news paper. We photocopied it, put it on our
notice board and about a day later a senior guy at work
looked at me ( he sat opposite me) his face was white.
There in the picture, to the left shoulder of a workmate
who appeared in the photo, in the clouds vicinity was
a person, fuzzy but there. You could see the mustache,
nose, eyebrows, chin and hair. We saw a cylindrical
ball I now know as an ORB in the photo also. The person
looked similar to one of those who had died, but I am
still unsure of this. Didn't look as accurate as the
guy that died but similar. |
A
while later, 2 married women (public servants both
in 40's with children etc.) in my building apparently
were walking along the upstairs corridor on the other
side of the building. About 8 pm they went to microwave
there tea. They say they saw the figure of a lady,
looking similar top a nun, floating along the corridor.
They ran and one apparently quit shortly thereafter.
I tried to speak to them to confirm but could not
find out exactly who there were. The 'story' was well
known in the building.
Then
there was the high ranking Senior Sergeant in his
50's in the building who would not go near the mailroom
downstairs after dark and with some reserve in the
day. All he ever said was he saw "something."
Other
strange incidents included doors opening and shutting
(happened once that I saw and a few times others saw)
things moving, alarms going off when no one there.
Did
I mention the building in opposite the old East Perth
Cemetery and building in a place that bodies where
exhumed in the 30's and no doubt many missed.
The
police stations 'haunted' if you listen to the guys
out there are;
| 1) |
Mount
Barker (very haunted and well known) |
| 2) |
Narrogin
(never saw anything and worked there 3 years,
someone died in a cell and supposedly gets angry.
A few guys I worked with had strange experiences) |
| 3) |
Muckenbuden
(Station very haunted and second man's quarters
extremely haunted) |
| 4) |
Marble
Bar (upstairs in two rooms, very haunted) |
| 5) |
Balgo
Police Post (Kimberley Aboriginal Community) |
| 6) |
Police
Post at Governor's quarters in Perth
I have also seen a ghost, whilst away working
at York , WA at the York Hotel, oldest hotel
in that area. I saw a man at 3 am when going
to the toilet, he was shiny, had old turn of
century clothes on, large side burns and I didn't
see his legs but he floated as he walked. He
was 1 foot from me. |
I have many more stories.

On
13/10/01 I went on Liz Vincent's Picton Ghost Tour (see
the Tours
page for info on this tour).
As she was showing us the Fire Station a dog arrived
and followed us for the rest of the night.
The final part of the tour was in the Picton
Tunnel.
The dog did not follow us into the tunnel and when it
eventually came in he sniffed around for about a minute
and took off - we did not see it again. |
I also took photos and in one
of the photos a red mist appears at the entrance.

My
paternal grandmother had died and my father was not
coping with her death.
My younger brother came and called us, saying granny
was in his room. She was there with a few others.
Although I could not see the spirits, I could feel them.
The air was ice cold in places, a body width.
Suddenly my mother started talking to my father as if
she was my Gran. She told him she was fine and to move
on. When she finished talking, my mother collapsed.
She had no memory of what had been said.
The cold air had disappeared when my Gran. left. |
This was my first major paranormal experience, and hopefully
I will experience others throughout my life.

Shower
Block Shadow
Submitted by: Josie - Mosman, Sydney (Added 11/10/01)

I
cant get out of my head what I experienced at the Quarantine
Station at North Head, Manly.
I was on a ghost tour. I had to go to the children's
ghost tour as my son who was 11 at the time wanted to
go.
The
tour was going really well.. that was until we got to
the shower block.. I half listened to what the tour
guide was saying but was mainly interested in the expressions
on the children's faces as they listened in awe to what
was being said.
I giggled as I proceeded to walk away and go and take
a look around for myself.. by this time the children
were running around looking through the place.. I left
the shower block along with most of the other people
on the tour but realised my son hadn't reached the outside
of the building I turned back and reentered the building..
there were a few children still in there..
I proceeded to walk down the far right side of the building...
as my eyes adjusted I could see the dark outline of
a man coming towards me... I blinked my eyes and looked
again.... Yes! there was definitely a dark figure moving
towards me..!
Now this figure was black.... but blacker than the darkness
that surrounded it.. I shone my torch at it.. but there
was nothing and as it moved closer I noticed there were
no features..no face features no clothing.. just a black
shadow... it felt as if I was glued to the spot.. I
couldn't move... it was like I was hypnotised... I felt
like I was dreaming...
The weird thing about this was there was a nice warm
breeze coming straight at me.. I felt comfortable...
I actually thought that I was going to become part of
it and it didn't scare me..
The closer this shadow got to me the bigger it became...
I guess I was fascinated by it or him... and it glided....
as it got closer a noise behind me snapped me out of
my trance.... standing behind me were 2 children who
were also on the tour, they were staring past me, a
look of fright on their little faces... calmly I said
to them. "did you see him?"
Although the trance I had been in was broken the children
could still see the figure....
I told them we'd better get outta here.. they didn't
need persuading... neither did I.... |
What scares me the most is... I felt
like I was willing to become part of this thing....
I was very comfortable.... and I felt like I had been
taken back to another time.... because I felt a warm
breeze and not an icy cold sensation does that mean
it wasn't a spirit?
I have been racking my brain over this.. making up excuses
and so fourth, at one stage I thought I was going nutters..
since then I have been back a couple of times.. I have
felt cold fingers on my arm when it has been a warm
pleasant night. I have bouts of tearfulness in the old
hospital building.. and the feeling of someone standing
behind me when there has been no one there..
I try to keep an open mind but the sceptic in me always
rears its head looking for explanations.. thanks for
letting me get this off my chest to people which may
understand what I am feeling....*S*
Oh
one more thing.... I watched Scream Test on TV the final
one at the Quarantine Station... Sailor Sam said that
he could smell Pizza in the old dining hall.. I forgot
what the building is called.... but I went to an open
day there one Sunday about 3 years ago... and I could
smell Pizza or something in that same place.. I went
and checked out the kitchen area thinking that perhaps
there was food being sold.. by the looks of it the ovens
haven't used in a long time. the smell of food cooking
to lure people into certain areas?
Well it made me go looking...*S*
