Store
Ghost

Why is it that people never tell
you about ghosts and things until you experience something
for yourself?
As with my last post, this experience also happened
to me at my workplace and once again, I wasn't told
about it until I had seen him.
This happened to me a few years ago when I was working
at a Pizza Hut store as a delivery driver.
After each shift, we the drivers, would go out to the
back of the kitchen and count our takings for the shift.
I was doing this one night and was all alone in the
kitchen when I saw out of the corner of my eye, a man
standing opposite to me. I looked up and he was still
there but faded within what felt like minutes but in
fact I think it was more like seconds.
He looked like someone from the 70's. He had a sort
of "Afro" hairstyle, not too long. He was wearing a
white t-shirt and blue denim jeans and white sneakers.
He was quite young, looking only in his early to mid
20's and was tall and slim. He was leaning against a
bench across from where I was standing, with his hands
placed behind him on either side and he was looking
at the blank wall beside him where the doughmaker was.
He seemed to be deep in conversation with someone else
whom I could not see.
I shook my head, told myself I was seeing things and
got on with the job at hand. I didn't, at this stage
discuss this with anyone.
On another shift when I was working with one of my closest
friends, I mentioned to her what I had seen. She then,
told me about the ghost and how apparently there had
been several sightings of him in the shop. She said
he was quite mischievous at times too, throwing boxes
around or pans. Although I had not witnessed that.
|
While she was telling me about him,
my manager walked past and said "are you talking about
the ghost?". Then they went on to tell me that at some
point, before the shop became a pizza hut store, it
had been another kind of store. The story goes that
the young man (whom I had seen) owned the store but
his father had put up the money for it. The son was
a bit of a gambler it seemed and not only lost all of
his money but also the store as well. Not being able
to face his father with this, he committed suicide.
Right there in the back room which was now our kitchen.
I went to the local library to try to find something
on this but there was far too much to go through and
I had no idea what year it even happened so eventually
I gave up the search.
I saw him once after that. While I was doing a lunchtime
shift, I was cutting the pizzas ready for delivery when
I felt him looking over my shoulder at what I was doing.
I stopped and slowly turned my head to look at him.
I think I startled him and he disappeared. I had the
feeling right then that he didn't know I could see him
and when he realised that I could he got frightened
and ran away. After that, I never saw him again.

Crisp
White Linen

I have had quite a few experiences with different areas
of the paranormal and several including the spirits
of the departed. The one which I am going to write about
here happened to me a year ago.
I work at one of the large hospitals here in Adelaide
and in October 2000, I had the position of a "morning
cleaner". I had my own area in which I worked alone
and started work at 6am each morning. I had to unlock
the area because at this time in the morning no one
else was there, as a matter of fact, there was practically
no one else on the entire floor. When I first started
working there it felt eerie to me but I put that down
to the emptiness of the place and soon got used to it.
One morning in particular, it was very early and I was
in the corridor outside the cleaner's room, organising
my cleaning trolley for the day's work. I felt as if
someone else was there and as it was so quiet and eerie
anyway, I dismissed this feeling.
Looking down into the shelves of the trolley, I couldn't
help but "feel" someone coming towards me. In my mind
I could "see" someone coming down the corridor towards
me. She seemed to be gliding along at quite a fast pace
in my direction. Once again dismissing it and telling
myself it was my paranoia I continued putting items
in the trolley.
To this day I have no idea why I was compelled to look
up at that precise time but as I did she was there!
She was right in my face and passed right through me
carrying on down the corridor but disappearing as she
went on her way. This time I didn't see it in my mind
but with my eyes. But she didn't seem to even notice
that I was there.
I felt this strange feeling of "crisp, white linen"
and I must admit it unnerved me a bit. But continuing
to tell myself it was my imagination, I was able to
get on with my work. I had to leave that particular
area at that time and go across the hallway to another
area I was to clean first and I can tell you, I couldn't
wait to get over there.
An hour later, when I had finished the first area, I
had to return to the area where I had seen this ghost.
I had to pluck up heaps of courage to go back in there
but was relieved to see that one of the other workers
I knew quite well had already opened up his department
which was adjacent to mine. I parked my trolley and
went to the next department to tell my coworker about
my experience.
|
"Oh, you've seen the ghost" he said
quite casually. I asked him if he had ever seen her
and he replied that he hadn't but others had. Apparently
where I worked was an old ward and she was a sister
or matron. Hence the crisp, white linen. She wore a
white uniform with some red on it. I didn't notice the
red though.
A little later in the day I mentioned the experience
to my supervisor who said almost exactly the same thing
to me. She knew about the ghost too but had never seen
her either. It was then I realised that it was definitely
not my imagination.
For the next few days I felt very jittery about going
to work but I forced myself to go in. Each day as I
entered the key into the lock I looked up and said aloud,
"please don't scare me". She must have heard me because
she never did that to me again. Although I have seen
her on two other occasions after that but as a brief
glimpse as she was crossing the corridor and quite a
way away from me. On those times too, I felt compelled
to look up and in her direction as she went about her
duties.
There are reports of another ghost in another part of
the hospital who is referred to as the "Gray nurse".
I have been told that she only comes out when there
is a death or someone is dying. But I have also heard
that the workers in that area have had the trolley moving
along on it's own and have heard eerie noises and laughter
at several times.

Unwelcome
Presence

Well I don't know if this is classed as an experience
but once I was at a bike track at night around 9pm with
a couple of neighbours anyway... this bike track has
no history of being haunted etc... but when I was there
I felt a presence that was unwelcome... I didn't like
the feel of it so I quickly hurried out of there. It
was dark that night and it wasn't that windy until I
felt that presence, it was a gush of wind then silence
and I looked around nothing was there and I wasn't going
to stick around to find out....

Indian
Ghost

About 1977/78 I was staying on a
houseboat on Lake Dal, Srinigar in Kashmir, northern
India. During the night we saw a scary looking Indian
ghost staring at us and told him to go away, which he
eventually did. The next morning at breakfast, the two
girls staying in the next room said "guess what,
we had a ghost in our room last night". I said
"he was in our room, too".

Beautiful
Little Boy
Submitted by: MD - Sydney (8/10/01)

My ex wife was pregnant with our
second son when he unexpectedly died during the sixth
month of the pregnancy. Labour was induced to extract
him, and he received a proper funeral, being buried
in a little white coffin. It was a very traumatic time
for my ex wife and myself, and we received counseling
to help cope with the grief.
A few days after the funeral, he came to me when I was
lying in bed, I looked towards the ceiling and a beautiful
little boy was smiling down at me. I was not alarmed
at all. He told me telepathically he was okay and not
to worry about him, then he faded away...

Guardian
Angel?
Submitted by: Serena - Campbelltown

This story was related to me by my
husband, as I was sleeping peacefully when it occurred.
I had retired to bed at around 7pm as I have to get
up at 2am to go to work. My husband came to bed at around
11pm and so as not to wake me he left the lights off
in our room but the light was shining through the door
from the loungeroom.
We have a 4 poster bed with a lace valance around the
top and as he made his way to his side of the bed (which
is away from the door) he could see a blurry shape of
what looked like a person on the curtain. He says the
shape was hard to explain, it was as if the curtain's
image was distorted.
|
Thinking his eyes were playing up,
he got into bed only to discover it was still there
and appeared to be leaning over me. There was also a
depression on the quilt where it was sitting.
He was not afraid, he said it made him feel at peace.
Needless to say when he decided to me about it a few
days later it freaked me out. I wondered if it would
come back. So far nothing else has happened, that we
know of!
Hopefully this was only a guardian angel looking out
for me.

Childbirth
Dilemma
Submitted by: Jane - Queensland, Australia

When
I was giving birth to my second child, I had desperately
wanted to have a daughter as I already had had a son
and so very much all my life wanted a daughter. I was
in the middle of child birth, right when things get
abit out of perspective, when I looked up to see my
grandmothers ghost bending over me.
She placed her hands on me and said that if I went with
her and died I could have a girl but if I lived I would
have a boy. She began pulling me. It was the most real
feeling and to this day I can still feel it. During
that birth the doctors had to resuscitate me twice.

What
could this have been? Just my mind and state?
I will always wonder.

Dripping
Shower?
Submitted by: Leesa - Australia

I
went on a tour to Quarantine Station (see the Tour
page for more info) & went in with a totally open,
partly sceptical mind as it was my first experience
of this kind.
The tour was very interesting historically for the first
part of the tour until we came to the graveyard where
walking down the hill I got the most overwhelming feeling
in my chest (like it was being squeezed & couldn't
breathe properly except I could) and down in the fumigation
area it got worse.
Heading to the gas room I was hesitant and once inside
felt I couldn't breathe properly and I could actually
smell something and had to walk out, standing outside
the shower block I said to my friend that I felt I shouldn't
go in there (I still have no idea why) and was told
by a Ranger (who overheard me say it) that it used to
be the waiting area (not sure if it was enclosed).
Once inside the shower block I honestly could not move
past halfway up the middle aisle, all this time though
I could hear a shower dripping and no-one else could,
during this time I had to go outside but also could
not stand out there by myself so I stood in the doorway
where I felt a push (I still put it down to my imagination)
and so I ventured back up to my halfway rooted spot
and could see something out of the corner of my eye
in my shower cubicle that I thought was dripping.
|
I
called my friend over and told her to take a photo of
the shower and as we ventured over discovered that the
recess of the shower was all wet as if someone had just
had a shower as I put my lantern up to the showerhead
it was dripping (this was witnessed by six other people)
and I told them that I swear there was someone in the
shower, I was also told that the water had been turned
off two - three years ago.
Bit by bit my mind told me it was all my imagination
but what I felt I have never experienced before ever,
as we left the shower block and wandered up the stairs
to the hospital block about half way up the stairs my
feeling left me.
I
still wonder to this day whether it was my imagination
and each time I tell it I think yeah maybe it was but
I also think what if it wasn't.
The rest of the tour was ok, historically it was brilliant,
to imagine how everything must have been, but I hope
I never go near that shower block again.

Strange
Collision
Submitted by: Aussie Jock - Australia
|
This
story took place in Scotland. A friend of the family
was driving to a mates place one night. As he came
over the crest of a hill he suddenly caught sight
of a male figure standing in the road directly in
front of him. He braked and swerved but failed to
avoid colliding with the man. The car finally came
to a halt and he jumped out but found no sign of the
man. There were skid marks on the road but no damage
to his car even though he was positive he had hit
someone. At that time he then realized he was at the
exact location where a man had been fatally injured
in an horrific road accident the week before. The
car the man was driving collided with a stationary
earth-moving vehicle and burst into flames.
|
I also remember a particular story
traveling around Scotland when I was teenager. A group
of university students were found dead in a room that
had been completely trashed. Several newspapers reported
that they had been conducting a séance. There
was speculation that they had contacted an evil and
violent poltergeist.

Disappearing
Hitchhiker
Submitted by: TB - Australia

This
is second hand so not sure how true it is.
A couple were driving along the F5 freeway around Goulburn
NSW. They stopped to pick up a hitch hiker. The person
sat in the back of the car and made conversation about
the fatal accidents that had occurred on that stretch
of road.
A short time later the couple felt a cold chill come
over the car. It felt like a door had opened. They looked
round and the back seat was empty.
|
They stopped and searched but no
one was around. They reported this to the local police
station and were told this wasn't the first experience
of a similar nature.

Rude
Awakening
Submitted by: Someone - Australia

|
Well now I'm not sure if this is really an experience
but since I was young I was sick lots. On a couple of
these times I was dreaming I was being shaken like someone
is trying to wake me up.
I would still be sleeping but I would finally wake but
the shaking hadn't stopped I would be moving around
the bed still being shaken but I was awake.
Sometimes it would last for a minute or so before it
would stop???

Unnerving
Picture
Submitted by: Someone - Australia
|
I
lived in a housing commission home but my parents
had a picture that they kept in there bedroom it was
a picture of a woman dressed in a white gown with
her daughter dressed the same. The daughter was sitting
on the mothers lap, mother and daughter was staring
forward.
I have two brothers, and me of course but none of
us ever felt easy near the picture. Once it was hung
in my room I used to not be able to sleep scared for
the night waiting till I could leave and not be in
my room again. It took years but the dread felt by
my brothers and I never left until It was finally
gone.
|
Mother seemed to pick up what was
happening to us and got rid of the picture for a song,
but found out later that the local buyer who had tricked
her into selling it for a small sum had reaped a large
profit at her expense.
I wonder what still whatever happened to the picture
and if it had the same effect on others, if it's still
drifting around from home to home for some unfelt reason.
