JAVA CHAT TROUBLESHOOTING
Having trouble entering the chatroom using Java? Try these things: |
1. RESTART YOUR COMPUTER
Always try this first! Sounds simple, but often you just need to free up your computers memory - especially if you have been running software.
2. EMPTY YOUR BROWSERS CACHE
INTERNET EXPLORER (IE):
- Click Tools
- Click Internet Options
- In the General tab, click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet files section.
NETSCAPE:
- Click on Edit.
- Select Preferences
- Select and expand the Advanced category.
- Click on Cache
- (Under Set Cache Options) Click Clear Memory Cache
- Click Clear Disk Cache
- Click OK
FIREFOX:
- Click Tools and select Options on the Firefox menu bar.
- Click the Privacy Icon on the Option menu bar to open the Privacy Properties.
- Click Clear across from the Cache option.
- Click Ok to return to the browser main page.
Remember! Once done - close ALL browser windows and retry Javachat
3. DOWNLOAD JAVA/REINSTALL/UPGRADE JAVA
This chat requires software called Java to be installed. If you see a gray/white box instead of a chat applet you may not have it installed on your computer, or it it is installed it may be an old or corrupted version.
Download Java from http://www.java.com/en/download/ (free download)
4. OTHER THINGS IT COULD BE?
Do you have a firewall installed?
If so add www.paranormalaustralia.com to your trusted sites.
Do you have an old browser installed?
You might need to download a new browser. You can find a new or updated one here: http://www.tucows.com/
Do you get the Security Window asking you to click YES or NO?
If not you may have a program that is supressing this - such as a popup stopper/blocker. Without saying YES the Javachat will not start. Add www.paranormalaustralia.com to your trusted sites.
Last but not least:. TRY IRC
If all else fails, you may find IRC (Internet Relay Chat) more stable.
You can download suitable programs from the sites below.
